Dear dealers,

We have a new tool for the Craig’s List advanced system that we think will greatly help you get things happening in a much faster manner.

Please email me with any questions.

We hope this helps!

Yago Paramo

System Updates

Dasboard added for new cars:

Perhaps not as useful as the dashboard for used cars but still offers a quick visual overview of your new inventory with aging, units priced, comments, etc.

Info links added:

We added a number of info/description links to the system in ouir continuous effort to make the system more user friendly.

Craig’s List

Be careful with your CL account!:

From Dan Rudd:

I have heard this from 3-4 people today. Looks like a Spam Scam. Notice that this was sent to me by Jet Chevrolet but it was sen to rxxxxxl@uvwaudi.com and landed in Matt’s inbox at Jet?

Your craiglist account is temporarily suspended: [http://bit.ly/a3EPTm] craigslist: Account Log In Attention – Read Carefully! Essentially you posted the same item to multiple cities or categories, or more than once in 48 hours Your post contains a link or URL to a commercial website or auction Your ad appears to contain a phone #, email address, or URL Account Status: Pending Verification To remove your listing limitation please go to : [http://bit.ly/a3EPTm] https://accounts.craigslist.org/login? ui=73917038&ip=4x5ghzbejgg if you choose to ignore our request, you leave us no choice but to permanently suspend your account.

From Yago:

“As posting gets harder and you need to phone verify the accounts your CL posting accounts become more valuable. Be careful with them and don’t give your log in info.

If you have any questions or doubts about the validity of an email check with our CL operations managers Jim or Bayani.

————————————————————————– —————

New tool added:

This one is a bit complicated to explain, so bare with me.

When you post a vehicle in the advanced tool you will have 4 choices to select prices.

1) The regular “text” where you can enter a new price manually or select from the 3 fields existing in the system.

Then you have 3 “image” choices:

2) Image – Internet Price Field
3) Image – Retail Price Field
4) Image – Sticker Price Field

The new image fields will add the price as an image to the template so when you change the price in diamondlot/Autobase it will update in Craig’s List in real time. So if you posted a car 10 times, the price will be automatically updated for that car in all 10 postings.

Some templates such as the “text only” template may not work for this tool.

Please note that the price will only update in the body of the listing and not if you also add it to the posting tittle. However, if a customer sees a price in the tittle and then a lower price in the body, that may be nothing but positive.

This waill allow you to change a price on a Friday at 1pm for example and make something happen that very same day!

Please test at your own discretion and email me if you see any bugs.

Social Media

Tyrannybook.com

Powered by Amnistia Internacional Portugal, Tyrannybook.com aims to promote global awareness against tyrans worlwide.

Without the purpose of making any political statements, I thought it would be interesting to see a completelly different development in Social Media and how it can be used outside what we are used to (Facebook and Twitter!).

I think Facebook has opened a door to awareness of what the Internet can do to build connections and better share information but we haven’t seen yet what this can offer. A lot of new developments wait for us in the future of SM.

AutoTrader.com’s Trade In Marketplace:

Here is a pick to Autotrader’s new program:

1) AutoTrader.com’s Trade In Marketplace Explained (video link).
2) Atlanta Business Journal: AutoTrader rolls out used-car pricing system.

My opinion:

“Read the small print in the program… it will work only for a few cars. No people upside down, no really old, no really new, etc.

The customer has to go to the dealer to get the final offer and inspect the car whichmay deter some customers.

However, I think it will do very well for some dealers that deal in that particular price/trade range.”

My friend Jeff’s opinion:

Yago, it’s working, it’s in over 300 dealers and they’re limiting the amount of dealers on the initial offering, it will be rolled out nationally at NADA in Feb.

As for the price guarantee it is subject to an inspection, which means the value could go up as easily as go down depending on how accurate their description was.

Seattle is the last marketplace they will be going into which will be July/aug.

This has been in development for ten years and in pilot since 2007, think what you like but TIM is coming and going to change the game, I’ve seen it up close and it is up and working, no gimmick.

Backed by the guy with the biggest balls in the business, keep reading you’ll get it!

For more information about the program: Call your Autotrader.com rep or Rich Wolfson @ 425-791- 4432

Legal

Open WIFI:

The German Supreme Court declared that one of their citizens is responsible for the pirate downloads from her WIFI that was left open while she was on vacation.

Not that this will happen here but its a good reminder to make sure your free WIFI for the service customers, etc is secured.

  • Dear dealers,

Lately I’ve been working on gathering data and learning about some of the consumer chanes in shopping habits so I included some of that data in this newsletter.

My goal is to be able to offer the right tools and products for you to market your cars to the new market trends. At the same time I think it is important that you have that data and also create your own ideas.

Craig’s List has also taken a lot of our time since the last newsletter with some changes and new implementations. Right now we are working in a new array of templates.

Social media is starting to shape into a big part of our business with lots of different aspects and angles to it. I expect a stiff learning curve all year.

Next week we are also starting a weekly GoToMeeeting training sessions. We have added so many new things in the system that it will be a good thing to have small-quick review sessions with the dealers (check the link at “online training”).

I believe we are the company with more field people that works with the dealers on a one- on-one basis but this will be a good way to do quick reviews or check small updates.

We added our support chat back to the system so you can now chat with our support guys again (we were low on people but a little while).

Support and training will be a major focus for the next 3 months to get everyone ready for the summer time.

Please email me with any questions.

    We hope this helps!

    System updates
    clpr

There is a new drop down menu in the CL Advanced posting tool that will recall all 3 prices fields that you have available on each vehicle in the system.

This will allow you to enter prices on these fields when you book/price the inventory and decide different strategies for the CL postings.

Notes about multiple prices in advertising:

In WA you must sell a vehicle for the lowest advertised price, so this tool wasn’t made with the intention of running a multi pricing advertising and get the dealer in trouble.

There are several things that can be done and for what this tool was set up.

First of all, the tool will allow you to run a slightly different price, for example just a $1 difference, in different areas and therefore give you a crude but valid tracking ability. By the same token, those of you that use multiple people to post, or use us plus one of your sales guys, etc, can do the same. Run different prices, one team prices ending on a $10,993 and another’s on $10,992 for example. I don’t think a $1 difference in price will get anyone in trouble.

My goal for this was to give dealers the ability to run smarter campaigns and be able to post in the best possible areas.

Secondly but not less important, this will allow dealers to also post some cars without a price and not having to delete the price every time they post the car (with the certain consequence sooner or later to have a miss-price).

Running a car with a price and then with no price is not against the “lowest price advertised” policy as one of them has no price.

You can read below more about Craig’s List strategies and why running some cars with no prices.

    A view on Social Media

I see social media as being invited to a party; if you don’t go there is no much of a loss–at least not monetary loss for the most part, and if you go there is no guaranteed gain. However you know that if you decline the invitation enough times you will miss with in the community to the point of not being invited again.

While social media (SM) will not offer a direct sale of a vehicle to the dealer it is clearly becoming a part of how the community wants to know about you and your business. Customers will use SM to check your past actions and interaction with customers and decide whether you are a candidate to do business with them.

The product is relinquished to a second role and the merchant–the qualities of the merchant it is–becomes the main subject.

Interesting enough dealers have already been doing SM for years: You sponsor little leagues, joined the BBB, the chamber of commerce, help the fire department, etc and it all resulted in a wood board somewhere lost in a wall at the dealer. You also try to get your cars as ready as possible and to fix any little nuisances that may occur after a sale. You do that because it has always been one of the keys for business longevity.

SM is the name we use to putting together your social involvement, your customer care, and your actions in one package that defines who you are into your Internet profile.

There are multiple pieces in SM that you must consider.

Twitter: I don’t see Twitter more than a useful tool that can be for the most part automated to help the dealer with SEO. In less than one month we were able to push Hyundai of Everett into Goggles’ second page. Twitter may play a key role on SEO just like a blog, as tweets about your business compound over time the sheer amount of key words and back links may position it at the top of the searches. Start building a Twitter, however simple may be, as soon as possible.

Facebook:I think there is no doubt that FB will play a major role in the way communications and customers get information about products (it already does) but the key is going to be how to build it right so it becomes a positive experience rather than a problem for the business.

The communication must be short and informative in nature. Constant messages about a new car or a $2 discount on an oil change will lose appeal pretty quick. I strongly believe that 1 to 2 a week postings with either detailed information on a vehicle (the vehicle itself, extra info, link to a video, etc) or dealer updates suffices. A second option is to add news and articles about the make on top of the local ones (new vehicles, involvement like for example Ford’s Warriors in Pink) has no limit to what can be added. These are news that appeal to your make’s buyer and that have a bigger message that your business while keeping your customers connected to you.

Having the inventory on Facebook seems to be pretty important. It indexes in Goggle pretty well.

I do like about FB that it can be tied to a blog and the information moved between them making each posting twice as effective.

Blog: The least talked most important piece of social media.

Blogs have been around for a long time, but until now people didn’t spend this much time checking consumer generated data. A blog also ties into Facebook and Twitter, so what you write in your blog goes into the other 2 sites and viceversa.

What I like about the blog is that it compounds over time, it grows and grows, page after page, with key words and links, all related to your business. Everything gets logged and everything gets indexed. Furthermore the blog allows you to be creative with things beyond the regular car biz message, as an example we added the Warriors in Pink charity work to Sound Ford’s blog as well as a paypal link to one of the foundations that they work with.

Aggressive social media: The way many dealers took an approach to search engine marketing (SEM) has resulted in, no results. SEM was focused as something you do to get into other dealer’s market by using their key words and names so offensive and defensive strategies had to be applied. The result was a WWI trench war: You spend $2000 attacking my key words then I spend $2000 defending my key words.

Unless your competitor was sleeping in the clouds there is no clear way to get an advantage.

I see social media taking the same course, perhaps even deeper. I was asked by a dealer how is that we could do social media for them and at the same time for a dealer of the same make in the same area.

The answer is that social media is not about you against the other dealer, it is 100% about you. Is about your relationship with the community, is about how your past actions may reflect on how you will act towards me and the business that I may decide to do with you.

Social media will work or not work for a dealer regardless of what other dealer does but on how he focuses his energy on it. Because of this, reputation management is so associated with social media (and not just content management). You will have a hard time faking who you are, specially with so many people being able to write back, but you can manage it and make the best out of it.

That is how we see Social Media at PGI.

If you share our vision, please email us with any questions about Social Media here or check us out at www.pgisocial.com.

    Poll, let us know

If we do another “dealer movie” night, what day would be best for you to attend?

Please answer here or just go to PGI’s web site and the poll will be on the right corner.

    Yago’s comment:

Robin Hood is coming up in May so I’m thinking to repeat last years movie event (which turned pretty good).

Most likelly we will do Kirkland or Alderwood as both places are pretty central (I know, we have to do one in the South afterwards).

    Facebook data
    fbs

Thanks to J. Hamilton for sending this to me.

    CL hourly traffic
    clpageviews

Although this is a total system traffic (that’s why the numbers are so high), the purpose is to show the consumer behavior by the hour throughout the day.

    CL most hits
    cltrff

This report shows the cars with the most hits on CL. Since we added the “days online” column it also shows an interesting trend: The cars with the most hits are the ones they have been online the longuest– and therefore they bhad the higuest chance to count page views.

    The way I see this information useful tot he dealer;

If your car got 10,000+ page views and it hasn’t sold; you must change something on the ad (the price, put wheels, etc).

You can view this report in your Diamondlot/Autobase account by clicnking on “Craigslist Most Popular Cars”.

You can also follow the hits on your individual cars by checking the “Craigslist Hit Report”.

    Chat code added
    chclt

We added the chat code for all of you signed in the program to the new placeholder in the database (mainly for Craig’s List ads).

This should free up the Craig’s List head code space for other things and make the ussage of multiple code easier for you.

    AutoB.com coffee mug
    yago

Get you FREE limited collectors edition of AUTOB’s coffee mug!

As you can see in the photo I was tired and ready to go home, after drinking coffee from the AutoB mug everything changed. You need to experience this for yourself.

To get one call Oli or Linda and leave a message (huge volume of calls expected!) or email me, they will get one to you asap.

    Oli: 206.850.0144

    CL template faults
    cjiji

When using full photo templates you risk the entire add if the image doesn’t display like on this screen shoot.

If I have to make a guess, the vehicle was sold over the week end and since it pulled from the inventory the image is not available to link to it.

As you know many customers look at cars over the week end, think things over, and you sell them a car on Monday or Tuesday. If they use Craig’s List as a reference to find you back you may lose the deal as I believe that even though you may ahve sold that car already at least you have a shot at another one if a second customer calls you.

This is why in our system we keep the cars links and photos active (not send in the feeds anymore but it can still link to it) and we also break the photo templates into different pieces to the contact image or text is always present in the ad.

    CL address replaced

For all accoutns on full service we have changed the address line with a commnet.

We felt that the address line displaying in the list page may actually be detrimental to the dealer as a customer may put a negative value on the dealer’s location before it even looks at the vehicle.

On the other hand, adding a comment such as “we finance”, “trades welcome”, or even the phone number may get an extra click on that ad.

    CL tittles implemented

We have implemented the custom tittle tool in all Craig’s List full service accounts.

From now on the service reps will either use the custom comments that you enter on the vehicle or they will use one of the “common” comments that you provide for the account.

    AutoB.com event
    154

We have to be the only ones that sponsor a concert where the main guy plays the accordion… None the less it seems that Oli had fun while looking after our sponsorship and working hard in the public relations area of the business.

You have to admit that no one else would bring your business to as many different communities as we do (we actually distribute the magazines in the Chinese and Korean markets!).

For more information about The Auto Book and how to participate in the next concert contact Oli @ 206.850.0144

    Dear Dealers,

We have a pretty nice improvement for the Craig’s List Advanced tool.

Please play with it and email feedback so we can continu to imrpove the tool for you.

Please email me with any questions.

    We hope this helps!

    Yago Paramo

New banner tool for Craig’s List

We added a new tool to the Craig’s List Advanced system that allows you to upload banners (images– we recommend using .jpg) to the system and then using them on the fly at the time of the posting.

    Why use different banners?

The banners allow you to do many different things with the postings.

You can completely set the “tone” of the ad. For example you can have a “Special finance” banner for vehicles under $10K, one that says “in house” for units under $5K, “we are the 4X4 kings” on your trucks, CPO banner, etc.

They also allow you to advertise your cars under a “different face”. For example you can advertise in one area as “XYZ Honda”, in another area as “Everett XWZ dealer”, and even as “The King of Gas Saving Cars” if that is what you want to do.

The banners also allow you to “link” different postings to different areas of your web site. For example you can easily get a link that shows all your trucks and direct customers to just that page. You can also direct special finance ads to a quick credit app. Because you can have multiple links, for those of you that really want to spend them time you can also link each area for each banner to a different landing page and that way being able to measure the clicks from each specific posting area.

    How it works

    First, load the banners.

    1. On the Craig’s List section of your Diamondlot tool, click on “Advanced Used Posting to CL”
    2. Then click on “Post to Craigs List” on any vehicle
    3. Now click on “Upload Custom Header JPGs”

    Second, load the URLs:

    • On the Posting page, click on “show custom links”
    • A new link will appear ” click here to add custom links”, click on it
    • enter full URLs in the boxes. i.e.: http://www.loginpgi.com
    • Click “update” when you are done

    How to use it:

Now when you go to post you will have the banners that you uploaded into the system available as a drop down menu in the “custom heather jpg” drop down box. As you select one of them, you have also to select on the the custom links that you added. We built it this way so you can use different combinations of banners + URL’s in different postings.

Different combination of banners + URL’s will allow you to fine tune whether a paticular type of advertising brings a better cinversion ratio if it goes straight to the inventory or just to a credit app., etc.

    Banner dimesions:

    • jpg
    • 72 DPI
    • 1050X350 or 1050X500 or 1050X750

Note: If you are in our posting program we are already creating banners for you. We will email these and get campaigns approved and coordiated with the manager in charge of the program.

    System fixes and updates

    Posting page continue button added:

Simple but very useful to cut down on time. Now there is a continue button at the top of the posting page so you dont have to scroll down the page if you are doing multi-postings and have your settings ready. (thanks to Good James).

    Batch update of prices:

We added a “certified” column indicator so you know which cars are CPO and you can price them accordingly.

    Batch update of comments:

We added a “certified” column indicator so you know which cars are CPO and you cab add comments accordingly.

17 IM/Chat Acronyms Everyone Needs to Know

There are differing opinions within the ContactAtOnce! user community regarding the proactive use of IM/chat shorthand when chatting with a prospective customer, but whether you use shorthand or not you can be sure that some of your prospective customers will. Are you prepared? Can you at least understand their messages, even if you choose not to use type acronyms yourself?

This post provides a short list of the most commonly used IM/chat shorthand, and a link to an exhaustive list that may prove useful should a prospective customer ever surprise you with an unusual one.

The most commonly used shorthand abbreviations and their meanings are:

ASAP – As Soon As Possible
    BTW – By The Way
    BWM – Bear With Me
    BRB – Be Right Back
    CM – Call Me
    IDK – I Dont Know
    IMO – In My Opinion
    K – Okay
    LOL – Laughing Out Loud
    OTP – On The Phone
    TY – Thank You
TTYL – Talk To You Later
    YW – Youre Welcome
    :) – Smiley Face
    ;) – Winking Smiley Face
:-0 – Shock and Surprise Face
    :( – Sad Face

Billed as The Largest List of Text Message Shorthand, Netlingo is a site that you may want to bookmark just in case a prospective customer hits you with an acronym you dont recognize.

And if you have a common acronym not listed above, by all means please leave a comment! TY

    Yago’s comment:

I did check the Netlingo site and realized that I knew much less shorthands than what I thought. Check it out, it will make you feel old (because probably my kids actually know all of them).

The one that stuck with me:

    CHA – Click Here Asshole

Great to send links to a friend challenging you, bad to send links about cars to clients!

This article was posted at the Contact at Once blog, our chat solution for automotive dealers.

    February 9, 2010 – Dealer News

    Dear Dealers,

We are still busy programing some new things for the system that we will implement in the next couple of weeks so I dont’s have any major system updates other than just a few fixes.

Last week we worked on implemeting a SMS Text message system in the magazine and it was printed on Tuesday (the good news is that it works!).

Please email me with any questions.

    We hope this helps!

    Yago Paramo

    Free sites? Need dealer’s approval

Traditionaly we will always set up any free feeds requested by a website as we have belived these to be positive advertising and exposure for the dealers.

We have recently encountered 2 issues that require a change of policy:

    • Some dealers didn’t feel confortable with some of the free sites.
    • Some sites marketted cars on Craigs List for a sales person without the dealer knowing.

The first issue is hard to spot since it depends on each particualr dealer point of view. The second issue is easier to spot (usually requested on a by dealer basis) and it brought other problems such as flagging for duplication, different prices on Craigs List, etc.

An easy fix is to require dealer authorization for any feeds, nothing fancy; just send me an email, click on the links we provide (like the one 2 articles below for Credit Kings), or sign something with the website you sign for so they can fax it to us.

We that this measure will provide more control to the dealer and avoid feeds issues.

Note: We don’t charge for feeds at all, so they are solely set up for the dealer’s benefit. We also don’t take money from any website company unless we decide to represent their products or merge our systems in which in that case we fully disclose it and present it as our product to sell/maintain/represent.

    Poll: Need your feedback

From now on I will try to get some feedback from a larger number of dealers before I make changes in the system so I don’t always focus on just a few opinions for changes. Please participate, all you have to do is read the question and click on one of the links.

    The issue:

Marketting on sites like CL requires a different price strategy. You can’t have the same prices as what you have on Autotrader.com for example. CL is used in many cases as a “sure shot”, you can post a car right now for a certain price and the phone will ring inmediatelly.

    The benefits:

It will give dealers more control on how the inventory shows on different sites and give more control over strategy.

    The bad things:

You will have to manage another price field. You will have to check for those cars when you sell it for the higuer price to a client that came form your website for example.

How does it work right now?

The system grabs whatever price is on the Internet Price field and brings that to CL. Dealers have the abilty to change the CL price on the fly (just for that posting) but the system doesn’t store it.

Should we have a specific field in the system for Craig’s List price?

    YES <<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>> NO

    Craigs List accounts getting stolen

We had a few dealers complaining that they had cars that didn’t belong to them posted in their accounts so we checked the problem.

Since CL installed security measures to avoid spam, having a working account is kind of a privilege for many people–it takes hard work to get things set and done.

We found sites that will do a “pop under” so when you navigate thru the windows opened in your computer you may use one of this fake account log ins and think that you are getting in your CL account.

We took screen shots, then Jim put together a nice page that shows the differences between the real one and the fake one, click here to see it.

TEXT Message technology implemented on PGILIST

    Seattle AutoSales.com

All dealers running on PGILIST magazine will get this feature implemented for free (actually it is coming out in tomorrow’s amagzine).

As you can see in the screenshot, each car has an individual barcode to text that will give the customer all the photos of the car that you have in Diamondlot, as well as your email, phone number, web address, and physical location. It also comes with a little “contact app” included.

The system also has a code in the top right corner of the page that will give the customer your entire inventory on their cell phone.

All pages, displays, etc are mobile ready and will display properly on most smart phones (my friend Keith still has a flip phone but that is a completelly different issue).

Every time a customer text a car or the inventory pages to view them on their cell phone you will also get an email from the Autobase server with the customer’s cell phone number and the car they are looking at.

We just merged print with your Internet database so you can get a customer’s cell hpone from a magazine and into your email.

    New distribution for PGILIST

Tully's CoffeeThe goal for PGILIST is to offer an alternative and affordable media to advertise your inventory on places where auto magazines have never been before.

This week we started distributing at Tully’s coffee, Seattle Best, selected Star Bucks, Hospitals, independent coffee shops, and the ferry system. PGILIST will be also distributed inside the Seattle Weekly as an insert in selected locations (they print 100,000/week and we “only” print 10,000/week, so not every Seattle Weekly will have our insert).

    Yago’s comment on the distribution:

Dealer ask me why have 2 magazines? The short answer is that we felt that we could not reach everyone with just one publication.

The same way we have the Seattle Times, The Herald, The News Tribune, etc, the dealers deserved having another outlet to reach customers in different parts of the Puget Sound as well as to be able to have a presence in areas where the automotive industry had never been before.

The Auto Book team has done a great job covering the more traditional market with the most extensive distribution you can get as well as establishing the highest quality magazine in the market. I strongly believe based on what I see that we do (we bend the impossible to get more out TheAutobook for our clients) that it will be the only high quality magazine for dealers to consider when advertising.

What I’m looking for PGILIST is to provide dealers that are successful with print the ability to reach more clients and augment their current print presence. I’m also interested on providing customers with a magazine that they may chose to grab for other reasons than just going after a car: Just to browse the market while they ride the ferry, drink a coffee, look for service information, etc and with that bring more eyes to your business and inventory. Not every person buys a car when they need it, in many cases they buy a car when they see something that catches their eye or that pushes them over that edge to make the decision. I want to be on those places and available to show them your inventory while at their leisure time.

Internet Flag system incorporated in both magazines

We are working on the feeds to give the system the ability to transfer the flags that you use on Diamondlot to the print team when they build the ads.

What this means is if you flag a car in Diamondlot as “NAVIGATION” or “HEMI” it will be on your web site as well as in the magazine. One step takes care of two ads spaces; Internet and print.

We are also working so flags like “Internet Special” transfer to the magazine as “Special Price” or “Managers’ Special” for example.

The flags will be used by the magazines as “banners” in the lower right corner of the photo. This is just one more option that you have as you can continue providing the banners to your magazine rep that same way you have always done it should you prefer to do that.

CPO data also transfers to print:

We are also setting up the system to transfer CPO data into the print teams. First of all, it will make sure they don’t miss adding the CPO logos to the cars and second it will allow us to mark them properly in the classifieds section for PGILIST.

    Stephanie Armstrong moving to California

Stephanie ArmstrongStephanie decided that the weather wasn’t cutting it up here so she decided to move with her family down to CA where she will be working with the Diamondlot team down there.

We will miss Stepahie as she was a great addition to our team for the last couple of years. I will get her email address once she starts with the Diamondlot team down there.

    Car of the month

We don’t see many Rolls around here, of course this one is at Park Place LTD.

With an original MSRP of $361,050, it looks good.

    January 27, 2010 – Dealer News

    Dear Dealers,

As you can see in the lack of system updates for the past few weeks I have been focusing on the development of the new Social Media program as well as getting involved with the desing aspects of pgiList.

Our programers are using the break to actually work in some internal updates that we needed (a better photo matcher and a few other things) but I’m also taken some time to plan and review a better reporting tool that will provide market information to the dealers (something we need to have and that will greatly benefit the dealers).

Please email me with any questions.

    We hope this helps!

    PGI’s Social Network Programs

SOCIAL MEDIA ADVERTISING & WEB 2.0 MARKETING

Many dealers have been asking for a program that will cover Facebook, Twitter, blog, etc. We put this together as a very comprehensive solution for the dealers. It covers everything that is out there that you need to be doing when it comes to social media.

The program that you see below is $750/month, it takes 3 full entire weeks to be fully delivered, and it involves a large number of people with very different talents (from professional writers to SEO guys to computer geeks on data transfer).

For those of you with multiple rooftops we don’t need a “per dealer” program, we have something that will target the dealer’s group sites and that it has been prepared for that.

This program is not designed to do what you already do with your Facebook account, which usually is to add a few entries once on a while with little or no relevant data (come in see us at XYZ cars, we have a great sale going”. That will face pretty quick as the message will repeat itself. This program, as you can see below, completely handles all aspects of Social Media, tracks and updates itself based on results, provides feedback to the dealer on what it does, includes constant-key word rich-relevant- professionally written articles, and builds a completely Social Media marketing campaign for your business.

    Here is the official introduction:

PGI’s new social media program focuses in providing comprehensive marketing strategies for dealer’s online presence. Our services consist of the latest Web 2.0 technologies to better increase both the visibility and credibility of your web business in the online market. Craig’s List self price updating templates

We added a template to the advanced tool called “Original with Price as an Image“.

The key to the template is the Price as an image part. The system will create an image with the price in the system for that car so every time you change the price, Craig’s List will display an image created with the new price in the system thus being able to update prices in CL without having to re-post or edit your listings.

Just remember that the price may not update instantly as the system needs to create a new image once is changed (so expect some delay) but it should actually update with in the hour or less (I will time it once I have a lot of them in the system and I can account for system work load into the timing).

We will add more templates of these type over the next few weeks as we didn’t want to change the existing templates. You can still post the same way you have always posted or have these templates as a choice.

    System update

The Craigslist Most Popular Cars link will now also show “days online”.

I thought that this will give a better perception on why a car may have more hits than another as it may have been posted for months thus accumulating hits.

    marysvilleautos.com + theautbooksite.com

I realized last summer that I had accumulated over 100 automotive domains in my account so I decided to put them to use.

We developed already one of them called MarysvilleAutos .com

All the sites will point to TheAutoBookS ite.com inventory (so if you participate on this site you will pretty much show on our entire network) and their purpose is to create microsites with information, key words, etc about the are and/or subject that they cover to gain positioning in the SE.

For more information about Marysvilleautos.com and TheAutoBooksite.com contact your magazine, diamondlot, or craig’s list representative.

    System fixes

One of the templates with the large photos was removing the links from the code when posting to CL. This has now been fixed.

Craig’s List did mention that they had some codde issue where the images wouldn’t show up.

    Service and parts guide update
    pgilist Auto Classifieds

    New issue is out.

As we announced in our past newsletter it includes the new Puget Sound Service Guide on pages 54 and 55.

In the next issue we may get rid of the parts phone number and instead we will create a grid to show extra services the dealers have like children area available, free coffee, detail shop, body shop, and WIFI.

If you want to add these to your listing just email me which ones you have.

Feel free to suggest other related services that we can include.

I believe that a more comprehensive list of services will make it more appealing to the consumer and thereofre that more magazines will move.

We also changed the listings part to a two line colum so the listing shows in one line instead of little blurbs like now. It is much easier to read and search and it also allowed us to add a top menu indicating thevalue of the fields.

Overall we are making a lot of little tweaks and improvements to the magazine and it starts to look pretty good (or at least I think!).

    Non sense

    No Political Motive

No political motive here other that the fact that I wouldn’t mind having Chuck Norris as president (I’m a product of Chuck, Stallone, and Arnolds time).

I don’t think their pose could be better even if rehearsed.

    January 18, 2010 – Dealer News

    Dear Dealers,

For once, something for you for free.

    Happy new year.

Please email me with any questions.

    We hope this helps!

    Yago Paramo

Puget Sound Service and Parts guide

Sometimes you have to give and I felt that there is no better time than to start 2010 with good news for the dealers.

We have created a service and parts guide for all our dealers that will be published in the next PGILIST Magazine for FREE (comes out Tuesday the 19th).

We built the list by make (if you have multiple makes you will be listed multiple times) and we added the service number, parts number (different in many cases), and city there the dealer is located.

If you have an independent dealer and offer service (oil change, brakes, etc) email me your info and service number and we will publish it under independents. It took me an entire day to build the list as it is because I went to every single franchised dealer’s website to get the service and parts phone number (if you are going to do it, do it right!) so I didn’t have much time to check on the services that independents have. I knew that Carson Cars offers service so I added them on the independents section to get it started.

If your dealer also has a body shop, tire shop, or different kind of service that is not already included with in your regular service department, email me the info and we will start building a listing with those services.

The service and parts listings are 100% free to all and any dealers using the Diamondlot/Autobase system.

For questions or more information email Yago.
